The band started in 1999, and had three primary influences: Metallica,
Metallica, and Metallica. That's changed a bit, or at least grown to
include more artists, namely Linkin Park, Bizkit, Zeppelin, Eminem,
Pantera, Megadeth, Mozart, Garth, Kid Rock, Zombie, and Disturbed... The
basics have stayed the same. Unseen Hands is heavy guitars, pounding
drums, bass that shakes the house, and vocals that are intelligible and
still have emotion. Kizzo handles the bass and vocal duties, James plays
the drums, and Deej plays guitar.
Forming isn't too interesting a story, as Unseen Hands were best friends
then and had a production company. Basically, they needed another outlet
for creativity that was a little more visceral than filmmaking. They
turned to their biggest shared love: Metallica. As wide a background in
music these three share, all culminate at one point of Absolute. Met. So
the boys set out to share in that energy. Deej had noodled around on the
guitar for a couple years, James started his drum career switching between
a drum machine and a keyboard, and Kizz had a big background in marching
band and small time with the bass guitar.
The first project was writing music to two scenes in MAN that never got
music in the final cut. "George" and "Fight Scene" were
the first two songs
ever recorded by Unseen Hands, which was then named Swordplay. "Fight
Scene eventually became "Out the Door", which is on ...driftwood
(un-released)..
James and Kizz's parents hooked them up on Christmas, 2000, buying James
a
drum set and Kizz got a bass and amp. Now they actually had a band that
wouldn't be embarrased to call themselves one. They changed their name to
Counter Measure and started writing their first album. The first set of
songs written were began as lyrics by James and Deej. James wrote lyrics
to "The Fear" and "Damage" and "Out the Door".
Deej wrote lyrics to
"Dragon's Breath" and "Spellcaster" and "So Close".
These are the first
of the fifteen songs on ...driftwood. Having finished their fist album,
they changed their name to that of their production company: becoming once
again, Unseen Hands.
Unseen Hands has worked very hard and just finished the writing of their
second album, Avenger. Recording is happening Summer 2005, and will be
available for download.
